Dallas/Fort Worth can get 110°F. However, the average spring/summer daily high/lows are 89/70°F. Most systems are designed at 25°F differential (100 outside - 75 inside) leaving thousands of hours in mild temperatures.

What this mumbo jumbo means is traditional units outfitted with single stage technology will short cycle during mild weather. A single stage unit will start in high gear, run at full speed untill the thermostat is satisfied, then cuts off. Short cycling is a big waste of your energy dollars.
